Ok Interenets, I need your help. Give me good reasons why I should take the time to teach Liv Chinese besides "because she REALLY wants to learn". The more practical the better!

Chinese? Umm...how about Spanish? I can agree to Spanish. Not sure about Mandarin.
Oh, boy! Gabe's off. Is the child proofing complete?
If you ever come to the NYC area, you can go to some awesome restaurants and actually know what you're ordering!
Wow, Chinese??!! I like AndreAnna's reason!
China has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. She'd be killer in business if she could speak the language.
I say, if she wants to learn it, have at it! It's so much easier to learn a second language as a child. And she would definitely be able to use it in the business world (yes, we are talking about your little girl!). Good luck!
Get ya groove on Gabester!
Wow, not sure if I could handle Chinese.
Because she really wants to learn is a good enough reason for me. If she shows an interest in something (no matter how crazy or off the wall it may seem to you)...indulge it. You are only feeding her drive to learn. I agree that if you could steer her toward Spanish, she would get more use out of it, but don't worry about it. Be proud that your daughter is so ready and excited to grasp learning.
Find out what is in your area (besides Chinese restaurants!) lol that she can learn from. My daughter just learned about dinosaurs at school and came home and asked if we had any museums. We went to the the Museum of Ancient Life this weekend and she LOVED it. It was neat to see her apply her knowledge from school...into a family activity. I know that it's very hard for you to leave the house, but maybe this is a perfect opportunity for a Daddy/Daughter or Mommy/Daughter date!
She'll have a much easier time learning it now than waiting until she's older. Just go for it :)
And nice haiku, by the way!
I agree that her being interested is enough reason to do it. In Chinese there is no such thing as dyslexia, the language being based on symbols for words you either know a symbol or you don't. Go ahead, it will be good for you both!! BTW do you know where she got her interest?
